Senior Co-Op

My Co-op is being held at High Tech High Media Arts and I will be interning with Brandon Davidson at college central redesigning rooms and offices, with other little side works:) (2024-present)

Week 1 May 13th-17th

Prompt 1
During my first week at my internship, I have discovered my hopes and fears of not being able to complete my tasks and projects given to me. As this week we were able to get most of the list down but were not able to complete it all. My hopes so far are that the work we have done has come out better than what we imagined it to be and I am excited to see the rest of the work we get done. For example, the college central label we made in the entrance came out better than expected and exactly how we designed it online. My other hopes are that I will be able to take in a lot of experience and create a profile with the projects I complete within my co-op. I plan to major in architecture and design after college so I plan on taking this co-op seriously as I want to learn more about what design is and what I like as a designer.

Week 2 May 20th-24th

Prompt: How is your Co-Op experience connected to the path you see for yourself in the future? & What has surprised you most while working at your Co-Op site?
I picked this co-op, as I knew going into college I plan to major in design/architecture. This experience has taught me and given me a lot of experience and learning of the daily job and challenges one has when they have this career. I have been able to build a better understanding of what it's like to design a place as I have not yet had the chance to. This is very much connected to my future as I furthermore want to learn and study this co-op experience. What has surprised me this while working at my co-op is how we are given the freedom to do all of this projects with the way we want them to be. Im very grateful on how everything is coming out because its my work and I did it my way so I was surprised in a good way I hope its still this way. During my co-op this week, me and my fellow peers in my co-op have been working on the 10th and 9th grade offices to redesign the whole room. We have started off by cleaning out the room and fixing up the wall to create a blank canvas!

Week 3 May 27th- 31st

Prompt: 3 & 4.
During my co-op experience I have been very thankful to be given the experience of being able to redesign the rooms. I am grateful that I am able to be given the freedom and trust to design it to the way I choose it to. This has helped me a lot through not being stressed out and anxious on how the others will think about it. During this week I painted a mural in the 9th grade office and felt very proud of the final outcome and not only for the mural but for the office it self. Being given the freedom I have had yet has made me super excited as I know the final outcome will be good and I will feel very proud of it along with my peers. I currently have no regrets as Im loving the outcome of all of the projects we had done and how they have been coming out so far. The only thing I regret now is not asking for help and support from my mentor as I feel very lost at times but also love how I have the freedom todo so.

Week 4 June 3-7th

Prompts: 1&2
For my co-op I am most grateful for being able to have freedom in the work I was doing not just being able to choose what I did but how I did it and the way it came out. I am very happy with how all the small and big projects came out. As Im aware of some people not liking the finish product I myself am very proud and would not change it, as I know how hard I worked on it and gave it much thought. I am overall very thankful for this beautiful learning experience, and am very appreciative of being able to learn how to design areas a bit more. Reflecting back to the projects, what went well for us is being able to complete most of the task given to us within the time period we had and how much work was given to us but overall very glad we were able to get most of the task done as I thought we were not going to be able to. Something I would change is being so independent such as asking for more help and input from my mentor  so that I can get more support. And what stands out to me is the murals that I did because I personally feel like those three were able to show the work and thought I put into them and leave a trace of me behind as I start a new phase of my life.

Before!

I am most looking forward to just learning more about how it takes to run an art museum and what kinds of projects and programs can be given to the public.I’m most just concerned if I will like it there not just liking it but just over all get a good experience out of it.I plan on working on projects being done at the museum such as interactive work with the guests and programs with the community. My goals are to learn more about what I’m interested in, such as in my future, what I want to do, and to build an ideal career path. I hope it can help me shape my future or at least an idea of it. I'm overall super excited and know I will have a great time at the Mingei Museum.
