My mentor's name is Shannon Foley and she is the manager in the education department at the Mingei Museum in Balboa park. She tends to have a different schedule every day since the museum holds different programs and different materials to plan. So I would say her job is cool since everyday is a different day with new and different ideas and programs to experience and not in a regular job setting where it's the same and very repetitive. Growing up she grew up living in a place where it was cold and never experienced weather like here in San Diego so when she came here with her friend for vacation she fell in love with everything here in San Diego and without a second thought she decided to move here and finish her studies here. I guess you could say that she has always had an interest in art history plus education and teaching others. She has always had a passion for history and has worked closely with other museums in the past. From my overall experience so far I'm very grateful to do my internship here at the Mingei because I have discovered my interest for art history and have now considered a path in art history. It has helped me alot during my thoughts about going to college. Overall, for this week's update I prepared materials! For next week's School in the park which is a program which helps Museums and schools work together in order to give back to the community with art projects! We also helped set up and help guests to programs that were set up for art events.
